{"id":918,"date":"2009-11-05T15:05:50","date_gmt":"2009-11-05T21:05:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.zalewskifamily.net\/everything\/?p=918"},"modified":"2019-07-30T14:11:30","modified_gmt":"2019-07-30T19:11:30","slug":"the-birth-record","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.zalewskifamily.net\/everything\/the-birth-record\/","title":{"rendered":"The Birth Record"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Recently, I found one of the records I have been looking for since I started my genealogy research in 1999, the birth record of Frank Zalewski.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here is an excerpt from <a href=\"\/with-a-little-help-from-my-friends\/\">the post I made about how I found it<\/a> on my main genealogy site:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>I quickly was able to find the location of this birthplace,  Krottoschin. It is now Krotoszyny, Biskupiec, Warminsko-Mazurskie,  Poland. What I couldn\u2019t find were any church records for this location.  Civil records were available at the other site, but those didn\u2019t start  until 1874. Frank was born in 1858. FamilySearch has always been helpful  at finding records for almost any location I\u2019ve thrown at it, no matter  how small, but for some reason Krottoschin wasn\u2019t even listed on their  site. I was at a loss.<\/p><p><br>I decided to just post about my conundrum in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/groups\/PolandGenealogyJustAsk\/\">Polish Genealogy! Just Ask!<\/a>  Facebook group I belong to. Someone might know something. Well, they  did and a few comments later someone told me to try records for  Schwarzenau, West Prussia, Germany. I had no reason not to, so I did.<br><br>Fortunately,  the records around 1858 had an index for baptisms. When I jumped in and  browsed, I immediately saw a Frantz Zalewski born on his exact birth  date!
