Hi Brian,

Just ran across your blog today. I have two Zalewski's in my file. My husband's, step-mother and her father from Syracuse, NY. If you'd like to email me I can share the very little I have on them.

As for your question about finding inspiration, the Carnival of Genealogy is a good place to start. Not only will you be given a topic but a deadline too, which I find helps me. Some of us pick up an interesting topic from other blogs and run with it. Sometimes I just post documents or family stories.

Hi Brian,
I'm a descendent of John Firmenich, brother of Mathias. Like you, I've become engrossed in our common ancestry. I have a quite extensive file on my branch of the family tree and have been able to locate some data on Mathias' family in the past year or so, since we found that he settled in Ashland. I learned of his connection with this area last year when I stumbled on Paula DeTroy-Griepentrog while doing Internet research. I'm hoping that you'll contact me so we can share family data and I can introduce John's descendents to your branch of the family. For years my husband & I have developed our data as a reference for our children & grandchildren. Our current family tree file totals over 19,000 names and still growing. I'm hoping to hear from you soon. Royleen (Fermenick) Newman
